The Award ceremony took place at the Natural History Museum, London, 18.06.03, with all prizes being presented by Lord Whitty, UK Minister for Food, Farming and Sustainable Energy.

Aforki Tesfazion of the Eritrean Energy research and Training Centre is presented with first prize of £30,000 in the Food Security category of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy 2003.

Mr. S.P Gon Chaudhuri of the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency is presented with first prize of £30,000 in the Enterprise category of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy 2003.

Bunker Roy of India's Barefoot College is presented with first prize of £30,000 in the Community Welfare category of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy 2003.

Geraint Davies of the Moel Moelogan Wind Farm in North Wales is presented with first prize of £30,000 in the UK category of the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy 2003.
