Director of Programmes
An exciting opportunity to join the senior ranks of Ashden, a leading charity dedicated to supporting and promoting sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
This important and exciting new role will work closely with the Founder Director, in a senior management team of three to help realise an ambitious strategy for growth.
Based in central London, Ashden’s close-knit team of 18 are hard-working, energetic and committed to helping create a low-carbon future for everyone from the UK and beyond. The Ashden Awards are internationally recognised as the ‘must-win’ award in the sustainable energy sector and are at the heart of our work.
Unlike other award schemes we work with our winners after they have won and we have created an extensive programme of support to help them grow and spread their influence. As a specialist in the sector for 16 years we have built an extensive bank of knowledge that we make every effort to share to help achieve the ambitious carbon-reduction targets agreed in Paris at COP21.
Central to the Director of Progammes’ role will be managing the strategic direction of Ashden’s existing awards and programmes to ensure they are achieving their objectives in the most impactful ways, as well as overseeing the establishment and development of new and expanding programmes in the UK and in developing and emerging economies
The Director of Programmes will work with the communications team, acting as one of our key spokespeople to help us establish Ashden as a leading authority on sustainable energy and an informed voice for change. This role will also liaise closely with the fundraising team to help ensure the future fundability of Ashden’s Awards and programmes.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with an in-depth understanding of the sector and the need to increase uptake of sustainable energy for social, economic and environmental benefits. Good management and team leadership skills are key to ensuring that the Programmes team achieve their goals.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 20 October. We expect to have telephone interviews on 24 October, and invite short-listed candidates for interviews on 2 November with second interviews on 7 November.
