Back to the classroom for sustainable schools

Senior management staff from 56 schools across London, Devon, Essex, Surrey and Hampshire are going back to the classroom this month to start a year-long programme to learn about how to save money on their fuel bills and cut their carbon emissions.

Now in its 4th year, our LESS CO2 Programme involves groups of schools joining together to take part in a practical learning programme facilitated by a ‘mentor’ school that has already achieved significant carbon savings.

2015 Ashden Awards now open for entries

Ashden launched its call for entries for its 2015 Awards today, marking the start of its search for pioneering programmes and enterprises that will be showcased as sustainable energy leaders at the Ashden Awards in June next year.

We are looking for applicants across three categories of Award: UK, International and Sustainable Travel. Up to 12 awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society on 11 June, with each winner to receive a prize fund of up to £40,000.

New report reveals finance and support gap for clean energy access enterprises

A new report published today by Ashden and Christian Aid reveals how donors, investors, technical experts and policy makers can improve support to enterprises providing access to clean energy in the developing world.

Some 1.3 billion people live without electricity, while nearly 3 billion people cook on open fires or inefficient cookstoves, damaging health and keeping people trapped in poverty.
