It's time for the UK to lead the way in the low-carbon transition

Moving forward from Durban to convincing action on sustainable energy

For the first time, the world is making progress towards a comprehensive global treaty on climate change after negotiators struck a last-minute deal at talks in Durban.  The agreement amongst 92 nations - rich and poor - is to negotiate an instrument with "legal force" requiring both developed and developing countries to cut their carbon emissions.  The parties will need to agree terms by 2015, which will come into affect by 2020.
